Bratislava’s zoo is undergoing a long-term transformation focused on animal welfare, habitat enrichment and stronger conservation work. Many exhibits have been rebuilt or expanded in recent years, creating larger naturalistic environments for iconic species such as lynx, red pandas, pygmy hippos and large hoofstock.

The zoo’s forest-park setting provides natural shade, native vegetation and a calm atmosphere — ideal for slow walking, families with children, and anyone looking to connect with nature inside the city.

Our Tip

Visit between April and October, when animals are most active and the forest canopy offers refreshing shade. Plan at least 3–4 hours to enjoy the full experience, especially if visiting with children.
