Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum

  • Galleries

A stunning art destination on a Danube peninsula, blending modern galleries, outdoor sculpture and riverside tranquillity just outside Bratislava.

Where Art Meets the River

Located on a scenic peninsula where the Danube meanders near Bratislava, Danubiana is a museum of modern and contemporary art set in a unique natural environment — an interplay of architecture, sculpture and landscape.

The Museum Experience

Founded by Dutch collector Gerard Meulensteen and Slovak gallery-visionary Vincent Polakovič, the museum opened in 2000 and has since hosted dozens of exhibitions featuring Slovak and international masters. It’s housed in a building reminiscent of a Roman galley, anchored on the river.

In addition to indoor galleries, the site features an 8 000 m² sculpture park where large-scale works are integrated into the natural landscape.

Why Visit?

Danubiana offers a rare combination: high-quality visual art, outdoor sculpture, river views and tranquil nature all in one place. Whether you’re drawn by the art or the setting, the museum is an excellent half-day excursion from the city.
