A restored 1930s military bunker on the former Czechoslovak border, also known as The Fields. It is a remnant of the Bratislava Section of the Czechoslovak Fortification System from 1935-1938, it currently houses a museum.

A Window into Pre-War Czechoslovakia

Bunker B-S 4 Lány is one of the most impressive structures of the Bratislava Section of the Czechoslovak Fortification System (1935–1938). Once part of a defensive line protecting the southwestern border, it stands today as a carefully reconstructed museum and one of the few Bratislava bunkers open to the public.

Rebuilt with Remarkable Accuracy

The original bunker was completely destroyed after the war. Since 2011, volunteers have meticulously rebuilt it using authentic documentation, archive photographs and original materials. Thanks to their work, B-S 4 Lány now offers one of the most accurate reconstructions of a 1938 military fortification in Slovakia.

Inside the massive reinforced-concrete structure, visitors can explore:

  • Reconstructed firing rooms with original machine guns and anti-tank cannons

  • Armoured control posts and observation systems

  • An engine room with a functioning diesel generator

  • Subterranean living quarters for the garrison

  • Emergency storerooms and field equipment

  • A collection of WWII firearms and gear

Outside, you’ll find an extensive system of anti-tank and anti-personnel barriers made of steel, concrete and barbed wire — an impressive reminder of how heavily fortified the border once was.

Guided Tours by the People Who Rebuilt It

The bunker is open every Saturday from April to October, with 45-minute guided tours led by the very volunteers who reconstructed the site. Tours run every hour from 11:00 to 18:00.
